Surah 9

The Repentance, arabic: At-Tawbah

Quran Surah/Verse ✔ Agreement ⇔ Contradiction ψ Unmentioned Comments
Su 9:1 * God does not want true believers to marry or associate with non-believers: 1Ki 11:1-6; 1Co 7:39; Neh 13:25-27; 2Co 6:14. * God does not allow us to break contracts because he is a God of faithfulness: Dt 7:9; Dt 32:4; Isa 49:7; Zec 8:8; 1Co 1:9; 2Co 1:18.
* Even if this happens to our disadvantage, we must not break any contracts, not even with unbelievers: Jos 9:18-20; 2Sa 21:1-2; Psa 15:4; Ps 101:4; Pro 25:14; Mt 5:33.
Su 9:2 * God's plan cannot be prevented: Psa 76:10; Isa 46:10-11; Dan 9:24-27; Mt 26:24; Lu 24:44-47; Jn 19:24; Jn 19:31-37; Ac 2:23; Ac 3:18; Ac 4:28; Ac 15:18; Ro 11:33-36; 1Pe 1:20.
* God will humble all unbelievers: Psa 22:30; Isa 2:11-12; Isa 2:17; Isa 13:11; Isa 45:23; Dan 4:34; Ro 14:11; Jas 4:6; 1Pe 5:5.
* Unbelievers have the freedom to believe or disbelieve: Mt 23:37; Lu 13:34; Jn 5:40.
* Believers are not to distance themselves completely from unbelievers, but have a natural interaction and business relationship with them and the opportunity to witness to Jesus Christ: Mt 5:14-16, Jn 17:15; Jn 17:18; 1Co 5:10; Phil 2:15; Col 4:5-6.
Su 9:3 * Pilgrimages to honor God: Ex 23:13; Ex 23:17; Ex 34:23; Ex 34:24; Dt 16:16; 1Co 9:25; 2Ch 8:13; Psa 120:1; Psa 121:1; Psa 123:1 etc;
* God rejects pilgrimages and sacrifices that serve idolatry: Jdg 2:13; Jdg 6:25; 2Ki 23:24; Jer 11:17; Jer 19:5.
* People should repent of idolatry and worship God alone: Dt 32:12; 2Ki 19:19; Isa 26:13; Isa 37:16; Mt 4:8-10; Rev 19:10.
* God's plan cannot be prevented: Psa 76:10; Isa 46:10-11; Dan 9:24-27; Mt 26:24; Lu 24:44-47; Jn 19:24; Jn 19:31-37; Ac 2:23; Ac 3:18; Ac 4:28; Ac 15:18; Ro 11:33-36; 1Pe 1:20.
* Those who do not repent of their sins will be punished painfully: Psa 89:33; Jer 36:31; Eze 33:8; Mic 6:13.
* Today we no longer need to make pilgrimages, but have direct access to God through the saviour: Mt 18:10-11; Jn 4:21-24; Eph 1:3; Rev 22:14.
* The punishment for all who disbelieve is eternal fire in the lake of fire: Isa 66:24; Mt 18:8-9; Mt 25:41; Jude 1:7; Rev 14:11; Rev 20:14.
* We must also honour contracts with idolaters: Jos 9:3-6; Jos 9:14-21; Jos 10:6-8; 2Sa 21:1.
Su 9:4 * We must also honour contracts with idolaters who are not well-disposed towards us and have deceived us. Contracts are valid because God is a God of faithfulness. We cannot say that we only honour contracts with parties that have supported us and have never worked with anyone against us: Jos 9:3-6; Jos 9:14-21; Jos 10:6-8; 2Sa 21:1.
* The story of the Gibeonites shows that the Bible is even stricter on the obligation to honour contracts than Sura 9:4. While the Qur'an allows breaking with certain groups, the Bible shows that once an oath is given, especially in the name of God, it is unbreakable - even if it was made by deception!
* Even if it is to one's own disadvantage, one must honour contracts: Psa 15:4.
* Fraud and breach of contract are fundamentally wrong: Lv 19:11.
Su 9:5 * Nowhere in the Bible does God call us to kill idolaters.
* Abraham was told that 400 years later the Amorites would be wiped out because of their sins. Even though this happened under Joshua, it was God's judgement limited in time and place and the Israelites were God's instruments in a very limited way: Ge 15:13-16; Dt 7:1-2; Dt 20:16-18. It was not a general command to wage war against all Gentiles in all the world!
* Why should killing be forbidden in the holy month but allowed afterwards? This makes no sense.
* The Quran calls for killing in order to spread Islam as a religion. This is a serious violation of the freedom that God has given to every human being. The Quranic call is not limited in time or place and applies to everyone. This is to be rejected.
* Nowhere in the Bible does God call for forced conversions. There is also no reprieve from the death penalty if someone performs the ritual prayer and pays the obligatory tax.
* The Bible does not call for people to be killed if they do not come to faith - this is a clear contradiction to Sura 9:5.
* The Bible does not recognise the principle that people should be forced to believe through violence. God emphatically calls people to life, but he also gives them the freedom to follow wrong paths and worship idols: Dt 30:19.
* In contrast to the Quran, the Bible calls on people to love their enemies: Mt 5:44; Ro 12;18-19.
* The sword verse is a great disgrace to Islam and absolutely unacceptable to humanity and not in the spirit of God.
Su 9:6 * Those seeking protection and asking for help, even if they are idolaters, should be helped: Ex 22:21; Dt 10:18-19; Pro 25:21; Mt 5:42; Lu 6:30. * The Bible does not ask us to help only if we associate it with the preaching of the Gospel.
* This almost sounds like an abuse of help for the purpose of conversion to Islam. Of course you can also combine practical help with the proclamation of your own convictions. But this should not be an obligation, but should take place when the opportunity arises.
* For women with unbelieving husbands, there is even the command in the Bible that they should win their husbands without words only through their exemplary way of life: 1Pe 3:1.
* The Bible demands the protection of strangers and enemies without any conditions. This reflects God's love and mercy even towards evil people: Job 31:32; Mt 5:45.
* While the Koranic verse links merciful help to a religious purpose, the Bible shows a fundamental attitude of care for strangers, regardless of whether they turn to the true faith or not.
Su 9:7 * Jews were not supposed to make treaties with idolaters in the land of Canaan: Ex 34:12.
* God wants us to keep our promises: Psa 15:4.
* Jews were not supposed to make treaties with idolaters in the land of Canaan because they would seduce them into idolatry: Ex 34:12-16. This applied to the conquest of the land of Canaan, 1450 BCE.
* Joshua and the Israelites kept the treaty with the Gibeonites even though the latter had deceived them: Jos 9:19-20. If the other party makes a deception, the treaty is still valid.
* The Quran distinguishes between idolaters who have made a contract that must be honoured and those who have no contract and can be fought. The Bible, on the other hand, states that we should act with honesty, commitment and love towards all: Mt 5:44; Lu 6:27; Ro 12:18.
Su 9:8 * Men are profane, wicked, liars and evil men: Lv 26:15; Psa 116:11; Psa 144:8; Isa 59:13; Jer 32:30; Mt 7:11.
* People tend to disregard contracts and commit abuse from a position of strength: Lv 5:21; Jer 25:34; Eze 34:2; Zec 11:5; Jas 3:1.
* It is not only idolaters who are wrongdoers, word-breakers and wicked, but all people, Christians, Jews and also Muslims: Psa 116:11; Jn 8:44; Ro 3:4; 1Jo 2:22.
* On the other hand, there are also idolaters who honour their contracts when they are in positions of power: Ge 20:1-15; Psa 15:4; Dan 6:9; Dan 6:16.
* The Bible instructs those in leadership not to abuse their power: Lu 22:23-27; 1Pe 5:3.
* We should always expect the best from our fellow human beings and give them our best: Mt 5:16; Mt 5:43-47; Mt 7:12; Ro 12:18.
Su 9:9 * There are evil people who deceive believers and lead them astray: Mic 3:11; Mt 23:13; Ro 1:18; Rev 20:10. * In the Bible, God warns against adding to or taking away from his word: Dt 4:2; Dt 12:32; Pro 30:6; Rev 22:18-19.
* The Bible warns against false teachers: 2Pe 2:1-3; Gal 1:7-8.
Su 9:10 * People are unloving and evil: Ro 1:31; 2Ti 3:1-4.
* Obligations to relatives must be honoured: 1Ti 5:8.
* All people are affected by an evil attitude: Pro 18:2; Jer 4:22; Ro 1:29-31; 2Ti 3:3. It is an illusion to believe that non-believers are always worse than believers.
* We should bless everyone, even our enemies, and do them good: Mt 5:44; Lk 6:35.
Su 9:11 * Genuine repentance and conversion are the first right step: Pro 28:13; Jer 26:3; Mr 1:15; Ac 8:22; 2Co 7:10; 1Jo 1:9.
* God explains exactly how someone is saved: Psa 16:11; Jer 21:8; Ac 2:21; Ro 10:10; Ro 10:13.
* Ritual prayer and submission are not a prerequisite for forgiveness. This also does not make one a brother in faith. Not a single person has ever attained righteousness by works: Ro 4:5; Ro 9:32; Ro 11:6; Eph 2:8-9; Tit 3:5.
* A true brother in faith is obtained through repentance for the forgiveness of sins and faith in Jesus Christ and through the Holy Spirit, through whom someone is born again and thus becomes part of the Christian community in the body of Christ: Mr 1:15, Lu 24:46-47; Ro 10:9-13.
* Good fruits, good works only happen when one has found repentance, forgiveness of sins and faith in Jesus: Mt 3:8;
* Forgiveness only comes through Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who was slain for us: Jn 1:29; Col 1:13-15; Col 1:20-23; Tit 3:8; Tit 3:14; 1Pe 1:18-19; Rev 5:6.
* One belongs to the true family of God only through Jesus Christ: Mt 12:50; Gal 3:26; Eph 1:5.
Su 9:12 * Breaking contracts and promises or lying is against God's will and sinful: Nu 30:3; Mt 5:37; Eph 4:25; Rev 21:27; Rev 22:15.
* As Christians, we are not to revile and belittle those of other faiths: Pro 13:5; Mt 5:43-44; Jn 3:16; Col 4:5-6; Jas 4:11; 1Pe 3:15; 1Pe 1:17.
* Treaties and faith in God must be kept separate. For someone can reject faith and still keep his covenants, e.g. the Philistine Abimelech: Gen 1:21:22-34. Or the Phoenician Hiram, king of Tyre: 1Ki 5:21-25.
* When opponents attack and revile the faith, we must not respond with violence. On the contrary, we should love our enemies: Mt 5:44; Ro 12:17; Ro 12:21; 1Th 5:15; 1Pe 2:23; 1Pe 3:9; 3Jo 1:11.
* It is typical of falsehood and untruth to try to remove and kill the leaders of other convictions: Mt 27:44; Mr 15:32.
* Christians should not allow themselves to be confused by insults, lies and threats. Just as Jesus did: Mt 5:11; Lu 6:22; Ro 15:3.
As a Muslim, what do you think about people of other faiths? Christians, atheists, polytheists? Do you not look down on them? That is a sin in God's eyes.
Su 9:13 * Unbelievers attack the leader of faith: Psa 37:32; Mt 26:4; Mt 24:9; Lu 18:33; Jn 7:25; Jn 8:40; Jn 11:47; Jn 11:53; Jn 12:9-11.
* Fear of man is not good. Fear of God is: Dt 1:29; Dt 3:22; Dt 31:6; Jer 42:11; Mt 10:28-31; Lk 12:4-5; Jn 12:25; 1Pe 3:14.
* We are not to fight against unbelievers. Even if someone denies the faith and breaks religious oaths: Mt 15:14; Lu 6:37; 1Co 6:7.
* A true prophet needs no defenders and no followers. Even if the whole world opposes him, he does not need the help of people: Eze 3:8; Jn 6:67; Jn 16:32; Jn 18:37; Heb 13:13.
* God helps the truth to victory, even if all people oppose it. He does this without people fighting for God: Ex 14:14; Psa 2:1-4; Isa 55:11; Zec 4:6.
Why is the Islamic prophet afraid of being expelled? Doesn't his very call to fight against people who attack him show that he himself is weak and cannot do it himself? Instead of trusting in God, he calls for help from people. That is not at all like a true prophet!
Su 9:14 * During the theocratic period, God calls on Joshua and Israel to fight against the godless peoples of Canaan until they are destroyed: Dt 20:16–18.
* God also uses other peoples to punish other peoples: 2Ch 15:6; Psa 7:12; Ho 10:10.
* God only commanded the Israelites to drive out the seven nations of Canaan during the time of Moses and Joshua. The reason was that God had been patient with these nations for 400 years since Abraham, hoping that they would repent. When they did not, he judged them through the people of Israel because of their atrocities and idolatry: Gen 15:13–16; Ac 7:6.
* However, these wars were limited in time and space, mostly as judgment on specific peoples, not a general command as represented in the Quran: Jos 1:1-4.
* God does not call on Christians to use violence against non-Christians in order to spread their faith. Nor do we find this violent propagation of faith among the Jews in the Old Testament.
* Rather, Christians are to bless their enemies, even those who oppose their faith, do good to them, and pray for them: Mt 5:44; Jn 18:36; Ro 12:19.
* God is greater than our human wisdom, and it is often the case, not always, but often, that opponents of the faith seem to triumph. God allows this and has his own plans, which are much higher than we can imagine. Jesus Christ died on the cross. That is the most important proof of this. But he rose again afterwards and demonstrated the power of God in a much greater way than would otherwise have been possible: Ac 5:30-31; Ro 14:9.
* God does not give immediate victory to those who believe in him, but in his own time: Ro 16:20; 1Co 15:25; Rev 21:27.
Su 9:15 * God is gracious: Ex 34:6; Psa 30:6; Psa 116:5; Isa 30:18; 2Pe 1:2.
* God is omniscient: Job 28:20-23; Jos 22:22; Psa 103:14; 1Co 2:11; 2Pe 2:9.
* God alone is truly wise: Job 12:13; Dan 2:2; Ro 11:33; 1Co 1:21-25; 1Co 2:7; 1Co 3:19; Eph 3:10.
* God wipes away all tears and also heals inner pain: Psa 126:5; Psa 147:3; Isa 25:8; Rev 7:17; Rev 21:4.
* Anger in the heart is not good: Jas 1:10; Pro 22:24; Pro 25:28; Ecc 7:9; Psa 37:7-8; Mt 12:33.
* God does not like it when we take revenge ourselves: Dt 32:35; Psa 94:1; Isa 34:8; Isa 35:4; Eze 25:17; Ro 3:14; Rev 15:1.
* We should do good and leave revenge to God: Pro 12:16; Pro 14:29; Pro 24:19; Mt 5:44; Ro 12:19-21; Eph 4:26; Jas 3:10.
* God forgives all sinners when they repent of their sins, and we are not dependent on God's arbitrariness, which would keeps us in uncertainty: Isa 55:7; 1Jo 1:9.
* God heals our hearts not primarily through retribution and victory over enemies, but through forgiveness, love, and His comfort.
Su 9:16 * We are not forsaken by God when we trust in Him: Mal 3,14-18; 2Kor 4:9.
* God knows exactly who stands by Him and who does not: Mal 3,14-18; Rev 20:13.
* It is good to rely solely on God: Ex 22:19; Psa 27:10; Psa 118:8-9; Isa 26:13.
* We should not associate with people who do not believe in God: 2Co 6:14.
* Fighting for God's cause with violence is not appropriate for Christians: Pro 15:18; Mt 5:5; Lu 9:54-55; Tit 3:2; Eph 4:2.
* We must not bring about God's kingdom by force. That would not be in accordance with God's will. Only when Jesus Christ himself returns will he reign with power and complete the kingdom of the Father: Rev 19:11-15.
* God also speaks through non-believers. We must not exclude justified criticism directed at believers: Job 6:14; Ro 2:9.
* All messengers and prophets have also sinned and need correction and criticism (except Jesus Christ, who is one with the Father in his nature and character Mt 4:11; Jn 10:30): Psa 106:6; Jer 14:20; Dan 9:5; Ro 3:23; 1Jo 1:10.
Su 9:17 * People who worship gods other than the one living God and do not repent will end up in hell: Eze 6:5; Hos 10:2; Rev 9:20-21; Rev 21:8.
* No one should worship the true God and idols at the same time: Psa 31:7; Psa 50:16–17; Jer 2:11; Heb 11:6; 1Jo 5:21.
* Even idolaters have their places of assembly: Ex 34:13; 2Ki 21:3; 2Ch 33:5.
* Every assembly of believers also includes people who do not yet truly follow God: Rev 2:14-17.
Mosques did not yet exist at the time of Jesus Christ.
Su 9:18 * True faith must be evident in works: Jas 2:17; Jas 2:26; 1Jo 2:3-4.
* Fear of God is a good principle: Lv 19:14; Dt 13:5; Pro 1:17; Mt 10:28; 2Co 5:11; Col 3:22.
* For Christians, Islamic ritual prayer or any other prescribed prayer is not mandatory. On the contrary! Repeating the same text many times leads to distancing oneself from God and false thinking (Ecc 5:1-2; Mt 6:7-8).
* For Christians, there is no set offering. The people of Israel did give a tenth of everything annually: Lv 27:30-32; Lu 6:38; Mal 3:10. Christians can take this as an example, but there is no command from Jesus Christ or the apostles to give a tithe. We are called to offer our whole body as a living sacrifice to God: Ro 12:1-2. This naturally includes all our possessions. We should be generous and giving: Pro 22:9; 1.Ti 6:18.
* We should not only fear God, but also love Him: Dt 6:4-5; Dt 10:12-13; Dt 10:20; 1Jo 4:7-8; 1Jo 4:16. But we can only do this if we have experienced His love through rebirth: Jn 3:3-7; Jn 1:12-13; Tit 3:5; 1Pe 1:23. False fear is not appropriate: 2Ti 1:7.
* All nations of the world will build God's temple, and God Himself will be present: Isa 60:10-11; Zec 6:15; Eph 2:19-22; 1Pe 2:5.
* Belief in the Last Day and God's judgment is not a prerequisite for salvation. Rather, belief in the Son of God, who died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead, is the prerequisite for salvation: Jn 3:16; Ro 10:9; 1Co 15:3-4.
Islam does not want Muslims and non-Muslims/unbelievers to mix. But that is impossible. Or it is possible through violent oppression, which no longer allows for freedom of belief. That is exactly what is happening in many Muslim countries today.
Su 9:19 * Religious works cannot replace true faith: Mt 7:21-23; Mt 23:27-28; Mk 7:6-8; Lu 18:9-14; Jn 6:28-29.
* Without faith, no one can please God: Ge 15:6; Heb 11:6.
* Giving a thirsty follower of Jesus just a cup of cold water will be rewarded: Mt 10:42; Mt 25:35-40. God does not overlook even the smallest deed.
* People who come from a pagan background and build a house of worship for the Jews will also be rewarded: Lu 7:4-5.
* No one gets to heaven through good works: Ro 3:28; Ro 4:5. Only through faith in Jesus Christ and what he did for us on the cross can we be saved, that is, only by grace: Ge 15:6; Jn 14:6; Eph 2:8-9. Therefore, every Muslim who accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior will receive eternal life.
* Genuine faith in Jesus Christ leads to rebirth and is always manifested in a changed character and behavior: Ro 5:1; Ro. 12:1-2; Eph 2:8-10; Jas 2:17; Jas 2:26.
* It is against God's will to wage jihad (“fight in Allah's way”) and spread the faith by force: Mt 26:52; Lu 9:54-55; Jn 18:36; 2Co 10:3-5; 2Ti 2:24-25.
* God also shows the way to the unrighteous. Adam: Ge 3:21-24; Psa 25:8-9; Isa 30:21; Mt 5:45; Lu 19:1-10; 2Pe 3:9.
* Why does the Quran say that Islam must be spread through war and violence? If it were the truth, it would not need to do so. For God has given humans the freedom to reject Him and disobey His commandments until the Last Judgment: Ge 2:16-17; Ge 3:1-11; Dt 30:19; Jos 24:15; Mt 13:24-30; Jn 3:16; Jn 6:66-69; Rev 3:20.
Su 9:20 * Sacrifices for God do not go unrewarded: Mt 10:37-39; Mt 10:42; Lu 6:38; 1Co 15:58; Heb 6:10. * If someone dies for God and His cause, it does not mean that he is saved: Mt 7:21-23; 1Co 13:3.
* The heavenly Father determines who occupies the highest rank. Often it is those whom we would not have expected in this world. It is always about serving, not ruling in this world: Mt 19:30; Mt 20:16; Mk 9:33-35; Lu 13:30; Lu 22:26-27.
* But eternal salvation and redemption do not come through good works, but only through faith in the saving act of Jesus Christ on the cross: Lu 24:46-27; Ro 4:5.
* Why does the Islamic prophet have to promise his followers access to paradise in order to motivate them to commit violent acts? The truth always finds only a few followers, but it does not need violence.
Su 9:21 * There will be a bright future for believers: Psa 16:11; Jer 29:11; Jn 14:1-3; Ro 8:28; 1Pe 1:3-4. * Heaven, not paradise, is not about having as much fun as possible and doing everything that is not allowed now, but about living with God himself: 1Jo 3:2-3; Rev 21:3-4; Rev 22:4.
* Paradise is mentioned in Revelation, but the future of those who are saved will be the New Jerusalem. Instead of a garden, there will be the river of life and the tree of life from which we may eat: Rev 22:1-5.
* Above all, God Himself will be present, the Father and the Son, and we will live in their light: Mt 5:8; 1Co 13:12; Rev 22:4-5.
* There will be no more suffering or crying. God will wipe away all tears: Isa 65:17; Rev 7:16-17; Rev 21:4.
* God will have washed away all sin from believers through the blood of Jesus Christ: Eph 1:7; Heb 9:14; 1Jo 1:7; Rev 1:5; Rev 22:14-15.
* True believers will be a joy to God: Psa 149:4; Isa 62:5; Lu 15:7; Jn 15:11; Rev 21:2; Rev 21:9-10.
* Salvation and eternal life are only possible through Jesus Christ as the Savior: Jn 3:16-18; Jn 14:6; Ac 4:1; 1Jo 5:11-12.
* Assurance of salvation is only through grace in Jesus Christ, not through works and not through violent jihad: Jn 14:6; Ro 3:23-24; Eph 1:7; 1Ti 2:5-6.
Su 9:22 * There is eternal salvation with God: Jn 10:28; Rev 21:3-4.
* God rewards: faith (Heb 11:6); faithfulness in small things (Lu 16:10); obedience (Lu 11:28); mercy (Mt 25:40); patience in trials (Jas 1:12); humility (Jas 4:6); forgiveness (Lu 6:37); secret giving and prayer (Mt 6:4; Mt 6:6).
* But this eternal life is only possible through Jesus Christ and is bound to him. No other prophet can make this possible: Jn 14:6.
* Eternal life is not achieved through works such as emigrating for God, working for God, missionary dava work, or even war and battle for God: Eph 2:8.
* Good works are the result of someone being saved: Eph 2:9.
Su 9:23 * The relationship with God is above all other relationships: Dt 6:5; Dt 13:7-11; Dt 10:12; Ex 20:3; Mt. 10:37; Lu 14:26; Ac 5:29.
* For the sake of faith, important relationships are lost, sometimes through betrayal, sometimes for a time: Lu 21:16; Mr 10:29-30.
* Separation may only be initiated by unbelieving relatives and friends, not by believers: Mt 10:34-37; Lu 21:16; 1Co 7:15.
We, on the other hand, are to love our enemies: Mt 5:44.
* Even unbelieving fathers and brothers and even spouses are still valuable relatives and should be honored: Mt 5:44; 1Co 7:12-13.
* The unbelieving husband, for example, is sanctified by his believing wife: 1Co 7:14.
* Some unbelievers have always been protectors of believers: Ge 41:14: Pharaoh-Joseph; Est 7:10 King Artaxerxes-Jews; : Lu 7:5: Roman officer builds synagogue for Jews; Ac 24:24-25: Roman governor Felix-Paul; Ac 10:22: Captain Cornelius-Paul. So the verse from the Koran does not fit.
Su 9:24 * Anything that is more important than God is an idol. This can include houses, apartments, security, relatives and friends …: Ex 20:3; Mt 10:37; Lu 14:26.
* Trading is not wrong, but it must be subordinate to God: Mt 6:24; Mt 25:16; 1Ti 6:10; Jas 4:13-15.
* As believers, we must not equate a prophet with God, as suggested here in this verse from the Quran: loving Allah and his messenger: Ex 20:1-2. God remains God, a prophet is only a human. Why then are they equated here in terms of love? Prophets also err: Moses Nu 20:10-12; David 2Sa 11:3-5; Elijah 1Ki 19:1-5; Jonah Jon 1:1-3; Isaiah Isa 6:5.
* God himself sent his Son, who is much more than a prophet. God, his Word himself, took on human form and lived sinlessly to save us. Because we cannot do it ourselves: 2Co 5:21; Heb 4:15; 1Pe 2:22.
* We must not threaten people with God's judgment in order to persuade them to use violence. Rather, it is a matter of nonviolent devotion to life for the sake of truth: Mt 5:44; Mt 26:52; Jn 10:11; Ro 5:8; 1Pe 3:18.
* God also wants to guide the unrighteous: Eze 18:23; Psa 25:8; Lu 19:10; 1Ti 2:4.
Su 9:25 *It is good to remember God's actions throughout history: Dt 8:2; Jos 4:6-7; Psa 77:12; Lu 22:19; 2 Ti 2:8.
* God has often helped in difficult situations: Jn 2:1-11; Mt 14:25-33; Mr 1:34; Ac 12:6-11; 2Co 12:9.
* Victory comes from God alone: Ex 17:11-13; Jos 6:2; 2Ch 20:15; Jn 16:33; Ac 12:7-11.
* We must never rely on our own supposed strength. This does not please God: Dt. 8:17-18; 2Ch 32:8; Pro 3:5-6; 1Co 1:25-29; Jas 4:13-15.
* In the Old Testament, God often showed how He brought about victory against enemies: Ex 14:14; Ex 17:11; Dt 20:4; Jos 6:2; Jos 10:14; 2Ch 20:15; 2Ki 6:17; Isa 30:15.
* As muslims, especially as Christians and Jews, we should not wage wars of faith. But spiritual warfare is necessary, both internally in our thoughts and externally when it comes to correcting false beliefs with words: Mt 26:52; Eph 6:12.
Su 9:26 * There are invisible armies of angels: 2Ki 6:17; Psa 34:8-9; Mt 26:53; Mr 13:27; Heb 1:14.
* God can give deep peace: Isa 30:15; Jn 14:27.
* God punishes one people through another: Ex 10 plagues; Dt 9:4-5; Isa 10:5-6.
* Just because there is a military victory does not mean that God agrees with the people who win: 1Sa 15:3-9; Jdg 7:1-22; 1Ki 14:7-14.
* Even believers can be defeated. Defeat can be ordained by God as a warning or punishment or a call to repentance: Nu 14:26-35; 1Sa 4:1-11; 2Ch 16:7-9; Ro 5:3-5; 2Co 12:7-10.
Su 9:27 * God can be gracious to whomever He chooses: Ex 33:19; Ro 9:15-16.
* God forgives: 1Jo 1:9.
* God is merciful: Psa 103:8; Lam 3:22-23.
* God is just in everything He does: Dt 32:4; Ps 145:17; Ro 3:26.
* God forgives ONLY on the basis of the sacrifice He predetermined, His Son: Ro 3:24-26.
* God loves to forgive and be gracious to people: Eze 18:23
* God wants everyone to be saved: 1Ti 2:4, but He respects man's free will when he rejects Him with all the consequences: Dt 30:19; Jos 24:15; Mt 23:37; Jn 3:18; Ac 7:51; 2Th 1:8-9.
Su 9:28 * Idol worshippers are unclean in God's eyes: Lv 18:24-25; Eze 20:7; Jer 2:7; 1Co 10:14; 1Jo 5:21.
* Believers should not mix religions by combining the true faith with falsehood and holding joint worship services: Dt 7:25-26; Dt 23:3; 2Ki 23:13; 2Ch 23:19; 1Co 10:14-21; 2Co 6:14-16; Gal 1:6-9; Col 2:8.
* All people have sinned and need a Savior: Mr 7:15; Gal 5:19; Eph 5:5.
* Whether someone is Muslim, Christian, Jewish, atheist, or worships gods, all are lost and need the Savior Jesus Christ, who died for their sins: Isa 64:6; Jn 14:6; Ac 4:12; Ro 3:23; Ro 5:8-10; 1Pe 2:24.
* Therefore, we despise no one, not even idolaters. We invite everyone to believe in the living Savior, Jesus Christ, who rose from the dead and conquered death: Ac 10:15; Eph 2:14.
* Nations other than the Jews are no longer considered unclean: Ac 10:15.
* Foods are no longer considered unclean: Mr 7:19.
* Greed can also be idolatry: Col 3:5.
Su 9:29 * It is bad not to believe in God and His judgment: Ex 14:11-12; Psa 78:22; Ecc 12:14; Isa 7:9; Mr 6:5-6; Jn 3:18; Ro 10:9; Heb 3:12; Rev 20:12. * The Bible rejects waging war for the sake of faith in order to convert unwilling people to the faith: Mt 5:44; Jn 6:44; Ro 12:17-21; 2Co 10:4-5; 1Pe 3:15-16; Rev 22:17.
* God created man in His own image: Ge 1:26-27; Jas 3:9.
* We must not take away the God-given freedom to choose one's religion, whether they want to leave Islam or the Christian faith or enter it: Jos 24:15; Rev 22:17.
* Humiliation such as paying tribute for the sake of faith is not in accordance with God's will: Jos 24:15; Mt 5:44; Ro 12:17-21; Rev 22:17.
* Christians should help everyone, Jews, Muslims, atheists, idolaters, even if they reject their faith: Mt 5:43-44; Lu 6:27-31; Jn 13:34-35; Ro 12:20; Gal 6:10.
The Islamic prophet permitted and prohibited many things that were neither permitted nor prohibited by Jews or Christians. This is one of the most severe verses in the Quran, inciting Muslims to use violence against Christians and Jews (to whom the Scriptures were given). The goal is to humiliate and degrade them and to deprive them of their financial resources. The Islamic prophet felt this was necessary. How abhorrent this practice remains to this day. This should lead Muslims to reflect on whether their religion is truly the right one, or whether they would be better off becoming Christians. Around the world, we see terrible governments and some Muslims brutally persecuting and murdering Christians, which goes far beyond what is prescribed here. These verses have opened the floodgates to many atrocities. How sad!
Su 9:30 * It is not good to spread your own ideas about God: Dt 4:2; Pro 30:6; 1Ki 12:26-33; 1Ki 14:7-16; Gal 1:8-9.
* False teachings have always existed and always will: Ge 3:1-5; 1Ki 12:26-33; Gal 1:6-9; 2Pe 2:1-3; 1Jo 4:1.
* God Himself will root out all false teachings: Mt 7:15-20; Mt 15:13; Mt 13:24-30; Mt 13:36-43; Gal 1:6-9; 2Co 11:13-15; 2Pe 2:1-3; Jud 4.
* Nowhere do Jews claim that Ezra is the Son of God. Read the book of Esra: Ezr 1.
* Christians not only claim that Jesus is the Son of God, he really is. They have every reason to do so. Jesus is God, His Word, who became flesh for us: Jn 1:1-14; Mt 16:16; Heb 1:1-3.
* There are false messiahs and false prophets: Mt 24:4-5; Mr 13:21-22; 2Pe 2:1-3.
* Christians must not curse Muslims or people of other faiths. They are called to bless. They should love all people. For God's judgment is coming, and before that there is the opportunity for repentance: Mt 5:44; Lu 6:27-28; Rom 12:14-21; 1Pe 3:9.
Why does the Islamic prophet oppose Christians and Jews? Because they exposed him as a false prophet? There had been other options, e.g. to either convert or tolerate them!
Su 9:31 * There is only one God, the Creator of heaven and earth: Ge 1:1; Isa 44:24; Psa 19:2-4; 1Co 8:6; Col 1:16.
* God has no advisors or partners that He needs: Job 12:13-16; Psa 33:10-11; Isa 40:13-14; Ro 11:33; Eph 1:11.
* Believers must clearly confess that there is only one God (revealed by Jesus): Isa 29:13; Acts 5:29.
* Hardly anyone among Jews or Christians has ever declared a leader, scribe, or monk to be God. Jesus himself forbids the use of the word Father in the sense of God when referring to people: Mt 23:8-10. Mt 23:9.
* There are many who have declared themselves to be the Messiah throughout history, but none have “deified” themselves: Dt 13:1-5; Jer 14:14; Mt 7:15-20; Mt 24:23-25; Mr 13:21-22; 2Pe 2:1; 1Jo 4:1.
* Pagan Roman emperors allowed themselves to be worshipped as gods. God punished them for this: Herod Acts 12:20-23; Gaius Caligula (37-41 AD), Nero (54-68 AD); Domitian (81-96 AD).
* Jesus, the son of Mary, is truly human, but at the same time he was sent by God, the Father in heaven. He proves this through his supernatural virgin birth: Isa 7:14; Mt 1:18-23. The Holy Spirit, not an angel, overshadowed Mary: Lu 1:34-35, and God himself became human through this: Mal 3:1. God decided to do this: Isa 7:14. He can do whatever he wants.
* It is not we humans who declare a human being to be god. No, God became human and announced this beforehand: Isa 7:14; Isa 42:1-3; Mic 5:1; Jn 1:1-3.14; Jn 20:28; Phil 2:6-11.
* We must ask: Can God do everything? Does He want to become human? Did He announce it? Yes, yes, yes! It is sad that Muslims usually do not recognize this. They deny God's greatest act of love. Yet in Islam, God is greater than anything the imagination could ever conceive! 1Jo 4:14-16. Come follow Him.
* Through this faith, there is the assurance of salvation that we long for: 1Jo 4:17-18; 1Jo 5:9-13.
* In the coming seven-year period of great tribulation, there will be an Antichrist who will sit in the temple in Jerusalem and be worshipped as God: Dan 9:27; Dan 11:36; 2Th 2:3-4; Rev 13:4-6.
* Where did the Quran get the idea that Jews and Christians worship humans as gods, if it claims to speak the truth? It is simply not true. In fact, this is a clear indication that the Quran is not the word of God.
* Muslims are thus propagating the false doctrine of the Arians from the 4th century AD. This was clearly and reasonably rejected as false at the Council of Nicaea (325).
Su 9:32 * Nations and unbelievers often resist God and His light, His Word: Psa 2:1-4.
* God will prevail. No man can ultimately resist Him or thwart His plan: Psa 2:1-4; Isa 40:8; Ac 5:38-39.
* God's light cannot be extinguished: Ge 1:3; Job 42:2; Psa 104:2; Isa 40:8; Jn 1:5.
* Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He will prevail: Psa 2:7-12; Jn 8:12. Therefore, it is beneficial for all people, including Muslims, to accept Him and His salvation. * How can one extinguish light with one's mouth? Presumably, it means what is suggested in the next verse: the Islamic religion.
Su 9:33 * There is truth: Psa 25:5; Psa 119:160; Isa 65:16; Jn 1:14; Jn 14:6; Jn 17:17.
* People often do not want to hear the truth and reject it: Jer 5:31; Jn 3:19-20; Jn 8:45; Gal 4:16; 2Ti 4:3-4; Heb 1:1-2. Do you accept it or reject it? God wants you to find the truth: 1Ti 2:4.
* There is lies and there is truth, and all of us, regardless of which group we feel we belong to, are responsible for finding out the truth in a world of lies: Pro 2:3-5; Mt 7:7; Jn 8:31-32; Ac 17:11; 1Th 5:21; 1Jo 4:1.
* That is why we must ask questions and not forbid them: Dt 4:29; Psa 105:4; Pro 2:3-5; Jer 29:13; Ac 17:27.
* Christians and Jews do not have a religion, but a relationship with the living God. That is why Christians do not speak of a Christian religion, but from the beginning of THE WAY that connects us with God and makes reconciliation with him possible. This WAY is Jesus Christ: Isa 30:21; Jn 14:6; Ac 9:2; Ac 19:9; Ac 19:23; Ac 24:14.
* It is not about the victory of one religion over another, but about the victory of truth. That is Jesus Christ: Jn 18:37.
* In the end, there will only be faith in the true God, Elohim, Yahweh, the Father of our Lord and true God, Jesus Christ: Dan 2:44; Psa 110:1; Eph 1:13; Phil 2:9-11.
