Quran

Preface:

The Bible and the Quran shape people and societies worldwide. We would like to help interested people understand which Quranic statements the Bible supports, which it rejects or which it is neutral towards. To this end, we provide the relevant Bible passages and a short commentary on them in the verses of the Quran.

We do not recommend simply reading the Quran from front to back, but how it comes closest to its chronological order. This makes many things easier to understand. Theodor Nöldecke (20.03.1836 - 25.12. 1930) and many others have worked out a chronological Sura order.

For the Quranic text we use the widespread translation by Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall from the year 1930 which is therefore public domain in many countries. For the Bible we use the public domain Free World English Bible, which is an update of the American Standard Version of 1901.

This is only an approximation to a comparison of the teaching content of the Koran and the Bible. There is a great and long tradition of interpretation of the Bible itself, which could not be more different. I refer here to the protestant tradition with evangelical orientation. For some of the authors the Arabic text is not accessible. Therefore these explanations are always revisable and expandable.

You will then receive biblical information on the verses of the Quran concerning the doctrinal statements. I recommend to start with Surah 96, the first Surah in chronological order, then Surah 12, the Surah Joseph and then chronological backwards Surah 5, 9, and so on. Because the last ones are considered to be the most problematic ones.
